Beacon Men – Walk and Pub Night
The walk will start at Linton Church Car Park at 6.30 pm prompt.
We shall follow the Greensand Way to St Peters Church, Boughton Monchelsea. This just about 1 mile on the flat and should take 25/30 mins at a relaxed pace. We will return by the same route.
We have arranged with one of the church members to open the church at 7 pm for a short guided tour and particularly to see the fine Millennium Window created by well know local artist, Graham Clarke. This is a unique window with a sequenced light display that depicts Gods Creation and includes 25 famous people through the ages.
For those who have never visited this church, it has real history and the churchyard has to have one of the finest views in all of Kent.
There are a few options on the evening.
- Those who do not wish to go on the walk, can travel there and back by car, meeting at Boughton Church for 7 pm. Church Hill, Boughton Monchelsea, Maidstone, ME17 4BU
- Those who wish to only walk way, can travel back by car to Linton.
- Those who cannot make the walk and Church visit, can meet at The Bull Inn, Linton Hill for 8 pm where we shall all meet up together for well earned refreshment.
People walking both ways, will leave Boughton Church at 7.30 pm and head for The Bull Inn. There is no charge for the church visit though you may wish a make a donation to the Church. In the event of really bad weather we will just do the Church and Pub visit.
